The Zig Zag Track is a 30 to 40-minute, exceedingly pretty, one-way walk on Park Road, just south of Titirangi Village at the east end of the Waitākere Ranges. Beign close to the village, it is one of the most easily accessible kauri forest walks in the region.
The track drops quite steeply alongside the deep gully of the Paturoa Stream through native bush, rich in nikau palms, with a number of good-sized kauri and connects with Titirangi Beach Road. A further modest walk will take you to Titirangi Beach, typical of the smaller beaches on the north west side of the Manukau Harbour.
Access to the track is from Park Road, which can be accessed from Titirangi Road or South Titirangi Road. As an aside, suburban Park Road has an astonishing number of maturing kauri trees, even for Titirangi – just walking or driving along the road is worth it.
