Exploring the Arataki Visitor Centre
Situated about 7 km along Scenic Drive from Titirangi, the Arataki Visitor Centre acts as a gateway to the Waitākere Ranges. This centre is a hub for learning about the region's history and serves as a starting point for various outdoor activities. A short walk from the centre leads to a viewing platform offering stunning 270-degree views over the ranges, extending from the southwest coast to the north. These views are particularly captivating at sunset.
Activities and Walks
The Arataki Visitor Centre is the starting point for several forest walks in the Waitākere Ranges. From the northeast side of the car park, take the tunnel under Scenic Drive to access the looped Arataki Nature Trail. This includes a copse of mature kauri trees amongst a beautiful section of forest on an easy walk.
There is a more strenuous option, which links the Beveridge Track to Exhibition Drive, Pipeline Road and the Slip Track as a loop, taking about 2 hours. A shorter option is to walk along the Beveridge Track to get views of the Lower Nihotupu Reservoir and Manukau Harbour.
How to Get There

Other options from Scenic Drive include Piha Road to Piha, Karekare, and Anawhata, as well as Fairy Falls, Spragg Bush Track, and Waitākere Reservoir.
