Features of Sunkist Bay
The sandy stretch of Sunkist Bay extends for 300 metres and is revealed as the tide recedes. Behind the beach, a high stone and concrete barrier is topped by a walkway, offering several seating areas for visitors to relax and enjoy the view. The walkway is lined with pōhutukawa trees, adding to the area's natural charm. Access to the beach is provided by several steps leading down from the walkway, and a concrete boat ramp is available at the Ealing Crescent end.
Historical Significance
Within the Sunkist Bay Reserve, visitors will find the Log Cabin, a historic holiday home built in 1929 by the Grove family. This charming structure now serves as a venue for community groups, adding a touch of historical significance to the area.
Swimming and Safety
Sunkist Bay is generally a good spot for swimming, particularly as the tide goes out. However, it is important to check for any Swimsafe warnings, as there have been instances of toxic algae blooms affecting the water quality.

To reach Sunkist Bay, head to Ealing Crescent, where you will find parking available in the Sunkist Bay Reserve, either above or beside the beach. The bay is also easily accessible from the Beachlands to Maraetai Walkway. From there, you can easily access the beach and enjoy the various amenities and natural beauty the area has to offer.
