Discover the Sawyer Burn Track

Located near Lake Hāwea, the Sawyer Burn Track is a rewarding hiking experience for those seeking stunning views and a bit of a challenge. Starting at the same point as the Kidds Bush Nature Walk and campsite, this track offers a more demanding hike through beautiful landscapes with outstanding views.

A Strenuous Climb with Stunning Views

The Sawyer Burn Track begins with a steep ascent, climbing over 500 metres through dense beech forest. This section of the hike is particularly captivating, especially when the forest floor is dotted with native fungi. After about an hour, the trail emerges from the forest, revealing breathtaking views to the south over Lake Hāwea. A narrow ridge leads to a final short climb, which is easily navigated in just a few steps.
