Discover Limestone Road

Located near the Whanganui Inlet in Golden Bay, Kaihoka Lakes is a destination that promises scenic beauty and a sense of adventure. The two lakes are the main attractions, but the journey there also offers stunning views of rugged countryside and steep farmland along Limestone Road.

Kaihoka Lakes Road provides access to the lakes, then continues on the narrow Limestone Road. The road winds around the lakes and through steep green farmland. From there, you will have picturesque views of the rolling rural countryside and limestone cliff outcrops, even in overcast weather.

There are also some accommodation options in this remote region. Staying in this area provides access to the coastline, which is not accessible by road.

How to Get There

To explore Limstone Road, start your journey from Collingwood and take Collingwood Puponga Main Road north to Pukawa Inlet. There, turn west onto Pakawau Bush Road for about 7 km until you reach the Whanganui Inlet. Turn right onto Kaihoka Lakes Road to access the lakes, then continue on Limestone Road.

You can also explore Dry Road around the south side of Whanganui Inlet and continue on to Mangarākau, Paturau River, Cowin Road, Lake Otuhie and Anatori.
