Wainui Falls

As you drive around Wainui Bay on Abel Tasman Drive, look for the signposted access road for Wainui Falls. Park in the car park at the end of the access road, and then it’s only about a 30to 40-minute walk into Abel Tasman National Park. This walk is mostly in native forest alongside the Wainui River to the waterfall.

Although it is a short distance, there is plenty to keep you interested. The walk includes a narrow section (with a safety rail and near sheer drop) high above the river, followed by a swing bridge. The final few minutes are a beautiful stroll alongside rapids to the falls.

The perfect way to end a few hours on Abel Tasman Drive!
