Discover Raumati Beach on the Kāpiti Coast
Raumati is a charming beach suburb located on the Kāpiti Coast, nestled between Paekākāriki and Paraparaumu. Known for its suburban feel, the area features houses that back onto the beach, shielded by a causeway. This coastal suburb offers a delightful walkway along the beach, which forms part of Te Araroa.
Scenic Beachfront and Views
The beach at Raumati is part of a stunning 14 km stretch of sand that extends from Paekākāriki to the Waikanae Estuary. This location is ideal for capturing breathtaking views along the coast, with vistas of Kāpiti Island and the expansive Tasman Sea, particularly at sunset.
How to get there
To reach Raumati from Wellington by car, take the motorway, State Highway 1, to the Kapiti Coast. The Raumati Poplar Avenue off-ramp, heading west, takes you directly to the Esplanade, which runs alongside the beach. There is plenty of parking and you can walk as far as you want to. If you head south, you will discover the more remote section of the beach at Queen Elizabeth Park, along with walking and cycling tracks.
