Parkinson Lookout in the Waitākere Ranges
Parkinson Lookout is located in the Waitākere Ranges, a short drive northwest along Scenic Drive, just past Rose Hellaby House. This spot is a convenient and scenic option for a peaceful picnic area or a viewpoint to the northeast across Auckland towards Downtown.
Once you arrive at the signposted area on Scenic Drive, you'll find a grassy patch beside the road. From here, a brief walk through the forest leads you to the lookout.
How to Get There
Parkinson Lookout is on Scenic Drive, northwest of the Piha Road turnoff. It is one of several locations that provide superb views across Auckland in the Waitākere Ranges. Other locations include Arataki, nearby Rose Hellaby House and Pukematekeo.
Nearby, you can also discover Fairy Falls, Cutty Grass Track, Large Kauri Tree and the Spragg Bush Track.
