Discover Momorangi Bay
Momorangi Bay is a long-standing holiday favourite on Queen Charlotte Drive, The bay lies within the Grove Arm of Queen Charlotte Sound and is surrounded by regenerating forest and high hills of the Sound. There is a DOC campsite with powered and non-powered sites tucked among native bush, and in Summer, the bay fills with families swimming, fishing, and kayaking. If you want to stay there, pick a time outside NZ public holidays. There is also another campsite about 1.2 km west on Queen Charlotte Drive at Aussie Bay.
Behind the campground, the Momorangi Forest Experience is a short interpretive track through regenerating bush. Panels explain the surrounding trees and birds, and highlight ongoing pest-control efforts.
Boating and Water Access
A wharf and small boat ramp make Momorangi a launching point for boating and kayaking in Grove Arm and the wider Sound. The bay is sheltered from southerlies but more exposed to westerly winds.
