Secluded Retreat at Ladies Bay
Ladies Bay is a hidden gem located at the far eastern end of the Auckland eastern bays. Nestled below the striking cream to gold-coloured cliffs of Achilles Point, this beach is a popular spot for nudists. The area is shaded by large overhanging pōhutukawa trees, providing a serene and private atmosphere. Nearby, Gentlemens Bay offers a more secluded experience, though it is less visually appealing than Ladies Bay.
Beach Activities and Features
Visitors to Ladies Bay Beach are not required to partake in nude bathing to enjoy the area. The beach offers ample space for relaxation. For those interested in fishing, a rocky platform at the northeast end of the beach provides an ideal spot.
Achilles Point and Scenic Views
A visit to the nearby Achilles Point viewing platform is highly recommended. From this viewpoint, you will have views of the Waitematā Harbour, Downtown Auckland, the Hauraki Gulf, Brown's Island / Motokorea, Rangitoto Island, and even a distant glimpse of Auckland City.
How to Get There
To access Ladies Bay Beach, take a scenic 10-minute walk up Cliff Road from the end of Tāmaki Drive in Saint Heliers, where steps lead down the cliff through the trees just before reaching the Achilles Point viewing platform. For those driving, there is a small parking area available at the point.
Other scenic locations on Tāmaki Drive include St Heliers, Kohimarama and Mission Bay, while Bastion Point provides great coastal views.
