The walk is very scenic, flat and only a bit over an hour return, normally. But in this case, Kowhai Creek which runs beside the first section of the track had flooded from the earlier rain and the normally sedate ford was running high.
So we followed the signs to an alternative and rather ramshackle farmbridge (with a scramble along the eroding cliff above the creek for good measure). Unfortunately, it then turned out the field in front of the lake was flooded, with an electric fence. At least the photos came out well, plus an excuse to try again!
