As an extension of the short Whitianga Rock Walk, walk from Whitianga Rock to Purangi Rd. Take the fork through the old defensive ditch immediately before the pā site. This goes down to the next small bay. From there, continue back over a high point through native forest to the main road above Ferry Landing. Walk back down the road to the landing to complete the loop.
The walk takes about an hour, including the promontory walk.
