Tokomaru Bay

Tokomaru Bay is a coastal village with another beautiful east coast beach. It is about an hour and 15 minutes drive north of Poverty Bay and 30 minutes north of Tolaga Bay. There is a shop, cafe, and pub, plus camping at both ends of the bay.

There is also an interesting set of industrial ruins, once the Tokomaru freezing works, at the bay's north end at Waima Cove. The restored Tokomaru Wharf is just north of the ruins and is another example of how trade was conducted before the road was completed. Follow Beach Road along the bay from the middle of the town to the end of the road.
