Beaches like Scotts are a highlight of the Heaphy Track. Many of them feature white to gold-coloured sand fringed by native forest and nikau groves. Scotts Beach is simply the easiest one to get to, at an hour of mostly easy walking from the Kohaihai car park, beach, and campsite at the south end of the track.
You can camp overnight or extend the walk to the next beach. The sandflies may prove a bit much, however, to hang around.
