Paku

Paku Track is a relatively easy, but must-do, walk in the Coromandel. Easy, because you can drive halfway up the 179-metre ancient twin peak volcano at the northern head of the Tairua Harbour, then walk the rest. It takes about 20 minutes or so and is steep at the top.

Once there, you can enjoy a spectacular 270-degree view of the Tasman Sea over Pauanui and Tairua. Great information panels explain the geological history of Paku, which consists of twin volcanic cores exposed as the cones eroded and the surrounding area.

Best done on a fine day!
