About 7 km along Pakawau Bush Road from Seaford, when the road reaches the Whanganui Inlet, turn right onto Kaihoka Lakes Road. The main attraction is access to the two lakes, but you can continue on narrow Limestone Road around the lake and across steep green farmland, with some very pretty views. Even in grey weather, you will get a sense of the rugged countryside between Whanganui Inlet and the northwest coast.
A modest amount of accommodation is listed closer to the coast, through which you can also get coastal access.
