Ligar Bay

Ligar Bay is the first of the golden sand beaches at the northeast end of Golden Bay before you enter Abel Tasman National Park. Driving along scenic Abel Tasman Drive on the north coast of the South Island, the bay is immediately after the Abel Tasman Monument,

The bay has a modest local community and holiday homes, but the beach is the main attraction. Also, look out for the estuary, which is strikingly gold-coloured when exposed at low tide.
