Lake Daniell is at the end of the Lake Daniell Track. You can stay overnight in the modern DOC Kōhanga Atawhai Manson Nicholls Hut or camp, which you can book online. Note that this is popular with families during the peak season and weekends.
A landslide created the lake, which is exceedingly pretty and surrounded by beech forest-clad low mountains. It is shallow, consequently not too cold, and safe to swim in. The jetty is a bonus feature.
