The Kepler Track is a multi-day Great Walk accessible from Te Anau. But there are also part-day options that take you to Luxmore Hut, 1,050 metres up the side of Mount Luxmore.
The most energetic option is to walk from the start of the track at the Waiau River outlet to the hut and back. Allow about 6 to 8 hours. You can also save time by getting a water taxi to Brod Bay and going straight into the 850-metre climb. A third option is to get a helicopter to the top and walk back to the outlet. This is an easier three-hour or so downhill trot!
