The short Kakamatua Trail to the Kakamatua Inlet on the Manukau Harbour is easy to miss but worth looking out for. It can be found off Huia Road shortly after the turnoff to Cornwallis. It’s also popular with dog walkers, so it's good to know if you have a dog to walk!
From the car park, the trail follows the side of a stream to an inlet. It starts in lush native bush, including kauri trees, and terminates at a beach at the head of the inlet. At low tide, you can get around the interesting rocks below the cliff on the east side of the inlet.
