Hot Water Beach

World-famous Hot Water Beach! This is yet another beautiful east coast Coromandel beach, but with the bonus of building your own natural hot pools at low tide. The turnoff to the beach is on the main road to Hahei and Cooks Beach.

Take a spade on your visit; where to dig is marked by a sign. This has become exceedingly popular, so try to avoid peak holidays and times of the day, though low tide is best for pool digging. Note that parking at Hot Water Beach is now metered as well.

If you don’t care for digging, there is still the surf beach, a lagoon walk, a couple of excellent cafes, and a cool gallery.
