Glenorchy

Glenorchy is a pleasant town about forty-five minutes' drive out of Queenstown. It has the unusually cool Monicker, “Gateway to Paradise”. Fair enough – Paradise is down the road at the entrance to Mt Aspiring National Park, plus Glenorchy provides access to Fiordland hikes, including the astounding Routeburn Track, one of the Great Walks, and various short hikes nearby.

The small shed by the pier and the set of trees in the water are Instagram favourites. After stopping and looking around at the view, drive to Paradise for arguably the most scenic farms in New Zealand and an overnight stay!
