Track Details and Activities

The West Matukituki Track is relatively easy and can be enjoyed on foot or by bicycle. The hike to the Aspiring Hut takes approximately two hours, making it accessible for most fitness levels. For those seeking a more challenging adventure, the track can be extended. You can venture north up the valley below Mount Aspiring to explore the French Ridge and the Liverpool Track, or continue over the Cascade Saddle to reach the Dart Valley.

How to get there

To access the West Matukituki Track, drive 50 km from Wānaka to Raspberry Flat at the end of Mount Aspiring Road. This road leads directly to the starting point of the track.

Rob Roy Glacier Track is another option from Raspberry Flat, and Glacier Burn can be accessed, with a crossing of the Matukitumki River for the more adventurous, 10 minutes back along the road at Cameron Flat.
