Discover The Pines in Endeavour Inlet
Located along the Queen Charlotte Track, The Pines in Endeavour Inlet is a charming area known for its holiday homes and scenic surroundings. This spot is south of Furneaux Lodge and the Howden Bush Scenic Reserve. It features a mix of rental homes and lodges, many with beautiful gardens and easy access to small beaches. Despite its name, pine trees are not a prominent feature here.
Beaches and Scenic Walks
Just beyond the holiday homes, two small but attractive beaches await as you head south on the track. These beaches, with their golden pebbles, rocks, and sand, are framed by native trees and are safe for swimming. They are ideal for cooling off after the six-hour hike from Ship Cove.
Continuing past these beaches, the track leads to a high point at the inlet's east side, where a picnic table is available. Although the view is somewhat limited, earlier on the track, a dramatic slip has opened the forest and provides an impressive vista, marked by a cautionary sign!
Alternative Walking Routes
For alternative walking experiences, you can book a boat to Resolution Bay or Ship Cove from Furneaux Lodge. You can then walk back, or opt for a walk-in and boat return. Walking from Resolution Bay takes about three hours one way, while the trek from Ship Cove can take up to six hours. Cycling is also an option. Alternatively, arrange for a boat from Picton to drop you off at Resolution Bay or Ship Cove, then walk to the lodge for a well-earned break.
How to Get There
To reach The Pines in Endeavour Inlet, take a boat from Picton to Furneaux Lodge or one of the jetties at The Pines.
You can also do a combined walking and boat trip between Furneaux Lodge and Punga Cove, on the west side of Endeavour Inlet.
