Jack's Point is south of Frankton off the Kingston Highway and one of the newer burgeoning “suburbs” of Queenstown. From high ground around the suburb, you can get some fantastic shots of the mountains around the area, especially the Remarkables during golden hour.
From Jacks Bay, continue south on the highway to Drift Bay, where there is a reserve and parking area. From there, you can get some of the best shots of the steep peaks that dominate the western side of the southeastern arm of Lake Wakatipu, including Cecil Peak and the Bayonet Peaks. Only Cecil Peak can be seen from the central Queenstown shoreline.
There are further opportunities to stop on he way to Kingston at Wye Creek and at Devils Staircase.
As you can see in the pictures, one of the Jacks Point Golf Course ponds offers a unique mountain reflection opportunity.
