Brocheries Road serves as an entry point to the picturesque landscapes of Hinewai Reserve and Purple Peak Curry Reserve, situated on the west side of the crater rim overlooking Akaroa Harbour. This location is perfect for those seeking to explore diverse tracks and enjoy stunning views.

Hiking and Scenic Views

You can park near a large grassed area at the end of Brocheries Road, which marks the beginning of several trails. From here, you can venture north into Hinewai Reserve, head west towards Purple Peak Curry Reserve, or tackle the climb south to the summit of Stony Bay Peak. The ascent to Stony Bay Peak involves a 300-metre climb, reaching an elevation of 806 metres, and offers panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Getting to Brocheries Road

To access Brocheries Road from Akaroa, take State Highway 75 north from the town, then turn east on Long Bay Road, which climbs to the Akaroa crater rim. At the top, turn south onto Brocheries Road and follow it to the car park near the large grassed area at its end.

Other places accessible from the crater rim include Le Bons Bay, Okains Bay, Ōtepatotu Reserve and Little Akaloa Bay.
