The Arataki Visitor Centre is about 7 kms along the Scenic Drive from Titirangi. It has a large parking area, including room for camper vans, and a fabulous visitor centre which covers the history of the region and provides information on the many outdoor activities around the Waitakere Ranges. There is a short walk to the right of the visitor centre to a viewing platform that provides 270 degree views over the range to the southwest and coast and around to the north. Try and be there at sunset!

It is also the starting point for a couple of longer, mostly forest, walks. When it eventually fully reopens, it will also be the start point for the multi-day Hillary Trail that goes southwest to Whatipu, then north to Te Henga Bethells Beach.
